Need ideas to liven up the morning fuel? Porridge is much better choice for breakfast than most cereals because you are cutting out drastic amounts of salt and sugar. The oats are perfect for easy digestion and best of all they will keep you going for longer, as they release energy slowly throughout the day.
Ingredients:
2 Handfuls of Porridge Oats
250ml of Semi Skimmed Milk or Boiling Water (sometimes more depending on whether you like a sticky or wetter texture!)
Small Handful of Crushed Pistacchios
Small Handful of Pomegranate Seeds
4 Leaves of Fresh Basil
Sprinkle of Lavender
Sprinkle of Pumpkin Seeds
Squeeze of Honey
Method:
Once you have made your basic porridge recipe, either by adding milk or water steadily to your pan on the hob, or through a four to five minute blast in the microwave, simply add the garnishes and stir into the mixture. Almost anything you choose will couple perfectly with porridge and their natural creamy flavour will instantly be enhanced. Eating oats in the morning is an ideal way to promote healthier eating because of the variery of ingredients you can add and the more you mix it up, the more your body will thank you!
